If you are a beginner learn everything you need to know to get started fly fishing. These include the casting principles and techniques, choosing the right equipment to picking the right fly, basic safety and regulations and fishing etiquette.

For the more experienced among you Gary can help you get more out of your sport by improving your skills, correcting any bad habits and learning new techniques such as 'Single & Double Haul' and learning how to cast for that extra distance and accuracy.

Location and Fishing Information

Fly Fishing In Otterburn, Northumberland - Northumberland and the Scottish Borders of England boast some of the most remote and unspoilt countryside in the United Kingdom. Stillwater
This will be either on a boat or if you prefer on the bank at the very well respected Sweethope Lough fishery near Knowesgate here in Northumberland.
You would be shown the best spots and the best flies as well as boat handling techniques. Sweethope is renowned for its hard fighting rainbows and is situated in beautifully wild surroundings.

River
If catching wild brown trout is more your thing then a guided session on a private section of the River Rede can be arranged. This session will be held on 3 and a half miles of water belonging to the Otterburn Tower Hotel. The Rede is best known as a late season Salmon River and if the king of fish is your desire then this can be arranged also.


Accommodation:

The Otterburn Tower is truly distinctive. A fortified Northumbrian country house built by a cousin of William the Conqueror in 1308. It attractively combines almost a thousand years of history with all the features required by today's discerning guest.
Set in 32 acres of ground in the village of Otterburn - fronted by formal terraced gardens and surrounded by woodland - the estate is ideally situated for those wishing to discover the delights of Northumberland.
