Fishing Lodge On The Elk River

Fishing Lodge On The Elk River

Canada, British Columbia — Package: 3001092

Package Details and Information:

Experienced professional and friendly guides are available through our Guiding Company. They will pick you up from the lodge and spoil you silly with dry fly action second to none for trophy cutthroat and bull trout. They float (one or two guests per boat) down the Elk river in their Mackenzie style drift boats and also guide on the Wigwam, Crowsnest and Bow rivers in the area.

We have a fully stocked fly shop in Fernie, about 25 miles down the valley to cater for your every need. They know what the trout are biting and are happy to bring what you'll need for a great dry fly experience.

The trout run large (18 to 20 inch trout are common), and are eager to take a dry fly. The bull trout in the local rivers run 5 to 20 pounds and occasionally will rip smaller trout off your line like a shark. We don't recommend fishing for them if you have a heart condition! In addition to the Elk River, the Wigwam, Bull and Crowsnest rivers and several alpine lakes in the area are teeming with wild trout, many of trophy proportions. All fishing is strictly catch and release fly fishing with barbless hooks and careful handling of the fish. Inexperienced fishermen are required to have a guide to protect the fish.

While we cater to the specific desires of fly fishermen and women, there are many other activities for the outdoor enthusiast.
Hiking and Horseback Riding - in the 'Height of the Rockies' or 'Elk Lakes Provincial Parks' close by is similar to Banff or Glacier but without the crowds.

Wildlife viewing - is incredible with herds of elk and deer sure to see you during your visit.

Kayaking, mountain biking, and golfing are close by (plans are underway to develop a new Greg Norman golf course), as well as hunting.

Skiing and snowmobiling in the winter is incredible with the recently ranked 'best ski resort' worldwide just 25 miles away in Fernie.

"One of the rare places left where the guides get your line into the fish not just the water. If you want to fish at a place where the air is clean, the wild life is unbelievably abundant, and any cast can be a new worlds record no matter what you are fishing for, or a fishing trip that you think you died and went to heaven on. You know that this is where you want to be."
