From Hosteria Chimehuin we will be fishing the following dream rivers: Malleo, Chimehuin, Alumine, Collon Cura, Caleufu, Filo Hua Hum, Meliquina, Pulmari, Limay, Traful, etc.

We will wade or float them all day long looking for the best spots and we will treat you with Parrilladas (Argentinean Barbeques) or home made meals at the banks of these wonderful rivers.

We can give you overnight float trips in many rivers; camping at one of the many islands in the rivers and sleeping in comfortable tents, with cots and inflatable mattresses.

We also provide Fly fishing trips to the Esquel (Los Alerces National Park) and Bariloche (Nahuel Huapi National Park) region. If you decide to stay with us more than a week, we will move from Junin de los Andes to the Bariloche or Esquel Regions. We will lodge at local Hosterias where you will share your dinner with local and foreign fishermen from all over the world.

From these locations we may fish very productive Rivers like Manso, Limay, Foyel (N.H.P.), Rivadavia, Arrayanes, Rio Grande or Futaleufu, Arroyo Pescado, Chubut, Corcovado, Pico and others (L.A.N.P)

We know how to fish a particular river after last winter. We were here last winter, we saw rainbow, brown and brook trout spawning off season. We saw Atlantic landlocked salmon compete for spawning beds.
We studied trout behavior and sample scales and sperm and eggs while the big companies went home.
We help local Foundations to preserve our resources so we all (you and us, our kids and yours) fish healthier and bigger trout year after year.
We will cook for you local asados and world class cuisine and give you the best local wines. (We sample this fluid also during the winter months! But just for you, don�t misunderstand us, please!)

Recommended rods are 7� # 3 to 10� #8.

Most used rod would be a 9� # 5/6

Lines should be WF floating, sink tips or Teeny types or shooting head systems.

Leaders should be 4� for sinking lines to 12� + for floating lines.

Hosteria Chimehuin is located on the banks of the fabled Chimehuin River.


You can literally fly fish from your door.


It is family owned and operated. It is 5 minutes walk to the center of Junin de los Andes and some fly shops and convenience stores. This is the place where fly fishing in Argentina started some 60 years ago. It is a place full of history. Rooms are comfortable overlooking the Chimehuin River and our headquarters in Patagonia.


Upon your request and our suggestions according the reigning fishing conditions we may also accommodate you in other lodges in the area and tailor make your trip according your fishing preferences. Or, if you want to spend more than a week, we will move to other great fishing locations in nearby National Parks Los Alerces and Nahuel Huapi.
