Package Details and Information:

Jorge is the name of the manager and is responsible for the daily fishing program and is helped by two guides, Nano and Juan.

They understand that the concern for details makes the difference between a good service and an excellent one.

Our work is validated by the ever positive comments of our clients who have been with us here, which is why year after year we strive to offer the best we can to make your stay a unique and memorable experience, and hope that you return year after year as a guest and as a friend.

Our basic program focuses on fishing the prime waters of the River Puelo between Lake Tagua Tagua and the Estuary of the Reloncavi. However other add-on options are available depending upon your length of stay. Closer to the Lodge area we can arrange trips to the upper River Manso as well as Lake Tagua Tagua or any of several nearby lagoons.

In addition more expanded, personalized programs can be organized which encompass other compelling areas and various types of water elsewhere in the region, as suggested by the fishing preferences of the client.
Lodge is equipped with four outboard motor driven boats for transportation to and from the lodge, propeller and jet. The float trips on the river are conducted on Mackenzie style drift boats.

The drift boats accommodate a maximum of two people attended by one guide.

The most traditional style of fishing in Rio Puelo is with large Wolly Buggers and streamers employed with a sink tip line. However the river also offers excellent places to use the nymph and or drift a dry fly in anticipation of huge catches.

Other Activities include...

Long Walks and Beautiful Cavalcades:

We also offer long and Beautiful Walks and Horseback Riding in the river basin of Puelo, near the border of Argentina.

Juan Fernandez is our native guide, and he and his assistant guide the walks in these very remote places, crossing the crystalline waters of great lakes, torrential rivers and ancient native forests.

The visitors will enjoy the wonderful and virgin landscape.

The guides know the area because  they have so much experience and are very knowledgeable of the zone and the boats and horses and therefore offer safe, beautiful walks through the Andes mountains.

We can offer long walks, 3 to 7 hour treks to the border with Argentina.

Location and Fishing Information

Fly Fishing River Puelo - Located in what is known as the southern cone of South America, Chile for the full length of its western boundary faces the Pacific Ocean while its eastern border runs through the spectacular peaks of the great Andes. It is a very long country(2700 miles) and comparatively narrow (on average 110miles) encompassing extremes of geographic and climatic diversity as its territory passes down through the southern latitudes.

The arid high plane in the north gradually evolves into the agriculturally rich central region which becomes greener and greener changing into the verdant Lake District which in turn dramatically undergoes transformation into the legendary Chilean Patagonia, replete with rainforest, fjords and glaciers, extending to the Straits of Magellan and over to the great island of Tierra del Fuego.

Chile is a country with a population nearing 15mm inhabitants of which about 35% reside in Santiago, the Capital. Administratively Chile is divided into 13 vertically superimposed regions. Our place is located in Region X which is known as the Region of the Lakes.

Our Fishing Lodge is situated along side the River Puelo southeast of the city of Puerto Montt which is the capital of the 10th Region located some 700 miles south of Santiago.

Residing within sight of the Reloncavy Estuary the village of Puelo is the community with closest proximity to the Lodge. It is here in the southern most part of the renowned Lake District where Chile can be seen at its best.

Here begins the Chilean Patagonia characterized by unequaled natural splendor abounding with fiords, lakes of all sizes, lagoons and mighty, wild rivers all bounded by still pristine hardwood rain forest which intrude upon the valleys and blanket the spectacular escarpments of the Andes dominating the eastern horizon.

In the area of Rio Puelo you will encounter a picturesque rural scene with the inhabitants engaged in modest farming and cattle raising activities; little has changed from that era when the first early settlers arrived in the 1850s.

The lodge was originally designed for fly fishermen and has a maximum capacity of twelve guests at a time to ensure a quiet vacation and privacy.

Here life is tranquil and silent except for the background rush of the river and the piercing calls of the Martin Kingfisher.

Here our privacy is absolute in as much as the only way to reach the Lodge is via a 15 minute motored boat trip upriver from the embarkation point at the Puelo bridge crossing.

This lodge is close to spectacular fisheries, Smooth flowing pristine freestone rivers bounded by sandbars and gravel banks. Guests float or wade fish for Rainbow Trout, .Atlantic, Coho & King Salmon are a bonus.

Rio Puelo originates from Lake Puelo high in the Andes in Argentina from where it travels 65 miles through Chile to end its diverse journey at the Reloncavi Estuary.

The crystal clear rivers offer a variety of fly fishing waters ranging from sweeping riffles and cut banks to deep slicks which abound with trophy size Rainbows and Brown Trout, made greater by runs of salmon entering the river from the estuary---Coho, Atlantic and the great Chinook

Located S41 36 38,7 , W072 1409,20, some 6 miles upriver from the estuary and 4 miles below Lake Tagua Tagua, our Lodge overlooks the north bank of River Puelo at an ideal spot amid stunning natural beauty immediately accessing the best fishing of the river.

From this scenic vantage point on the fringe of towering hardwoods the visitor has stunning views of the vibrant river against the backdrop of the virgin rainforest giving way to the first snow capped peaks of the western Andes.

Usual conditions are of sunny skies with ever present broken clouds.
