South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing Report

The South Florida Summer is here and that means awesome peacock bass fishing for those of us here in the deep south. The Miami canals have been the spot of choice for us and are producing anywhere from 15-40 peacocks up to about 7 pounds in a full day of fishing. Live bait is premium when fishing for this species but our clients have had some exciting days recently sight fishing for them by pitching red rattletraps and bucktail jigs into their beds. It is so cool to actually see the fish inhale your bait and then peel your drag once you set the hook!

The key to fishing the canals is to free line a live shiner out behind the boat with a small bb sized weight and let it get down deep. Once the sun comes up and the day warms you can sight fish them on the shallow shoreline if you bring yoyur polarized glasses.

The busy season is right around the corner so you had better contact us soon at (877) FLA-PKOK or visit us on the web at www.bassmasterguideservice.com and reserve your date for the South Florida bass fishing adventure of a lifetime!
