Package Details and Information:

Our Wilderness Horse Pack & Float Fly Fishing Expeditions are truly special. This unique angling adventure was recently recognized once again by the Orvis Company as "2004 Orvis Endorsed Expedition of the Year" -- the only two-time recipient of this honor.

You'll ride, camp, hike and fish in the one million acre Bob Marshall Wilderness, immersed in solitude, spectacular scenery, and dry fly action - a truly memorable experience! We take small groups (six to eight guests) on a limited number of expeditions each season. Don't miss your opportunity to experience wild trout dry fly fishing at its finest!

Sample Itinerary - The following is a sample 5 Day/4 Night Wilderness Horse Pack & Float Expedition itinerary. Actual itinerary may vary due to scheduling, river and forest conditions, weather, etc.

FRIDAY:  Arrive in the Flathead Valley/Kalispell area and spend the night in one of the many local-area lodging facilities.  We can recommend several that provide complimentary ground transportation from the airport to your place of stay.

SATURDAY (AM) ARRIVALS: Arrive at the lodge at between 8 and 9 a.m.  And, enjoy a hearty breakfast with us.  If you're driving yourself, remember the drive is approximately 2- hours from downtown Kalispell; 2 hours from Hungry Horse.  If you choose the pre-arranged shuttle service provided by Flathead-Glacier Transportation, your driver will pick you up around 7:00 a.m.  Please let us know your plans so that we may schedule accordingly.

Enjoy a continental breakfast in the lodge while your duffel and other gear are packed. Make your way to the Outfitters Roost, a 25-minute drive. You'll depart on horseback from the trailhead around 10:30 am and arrive at 'Black Bear' area, four to six hours (8 to 10 miles) later, in time for some dry fly fishing and massaging your saddle sores. You'll camp here overnight.

SUNDAY: Awake to a beautiful Rocky Mountain sunrise and enjoy a steaming cup of coffee. After a hearty camp breakfast, pack up and horseback to the 'Salmon Forks' area, a four to six hour (8 to 10 miles) ride. Fishing in the late afternoon and evening. And, camp overnight.

MONDAY: Breakfast, then hike and wade fish the South Fork, Big Salmon Lake or other small streams. You won't need to pack up since you'll be spending another night here.

TUESDAY: After breakfast, pack up and load the rafts. Float and wade fish down to 'Hodag Creek', approximately 11 river miles. You'll stop along the way to fish the best holes and enjoy a shore lunch.

WEDNESDAY: Float and fish to the 'take-out' point, approximately six miles. Our Pack staff will meet you with the necessary stock. Ride or hike two miles around 'The Gorge' back to Outfitters Roost. Drive back to the lodge, clean up and enjoy a Western-style Bar-B-Que. After supper, head back to Kalispell in your personal vehicle, pre-arranged shuttle or charter flight.

THURSDAY: Depart from the Kalispell area or take in some of the many local area attractions.
