Door County Lake Michigan Charters
Wisconsin (WI) — Package: 200449
Package Details and Information:
Captain Denny is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain with more than 20 years of Door County fishing experience. He captains a 27-foot Grady-White fishing machine built to withstand rugged ocean conditions. It is powered by dependable twin Honda 130 outboards that are quiet and smoke-free. The boat is safe and comfortable, yet not so large as to make passengers feel disconnected with the fishing action. It has a cabin with an enclosed head (bathroom) for passenger convenience. The boat is equipped with the latest technology including Raymarine sonar, GPS, autopilot and radar to get people on fish in a hurry and return home safely.
Captain Denny specializes in family fishing trips for salmon and trout in Lake Michigan waters. Children are welcome! Another popular option for families is to book a smallmouth bass charter in Rowleys Bay aboard a comfortable pontoon boat. This might be preferable for children under the age of 8 who normally cannot handle reeling in big salmon without help.
Rowleys Bay is the gateway to some of the best salmon and trout fishing in Lake Michigan. It is home to the famous king (Chinook) salmon that commonly reach 30+ pounds. Big steelhead (rainbow) and brown trout are also common in these waters. Rowleys Bay is also known as one of the best smallmouth bass fisheries in Wisconsin; fish up to 7 pounds are caught annually.

Accommodation:
Hotels and Resorts: There are many fine hotels, resorts, and motels in the Door County area that you can choose from but Captain Denny recommends staying at one of the best family resort hotels. The main lodge is conveniently located adjacent to the Marina. No need to drive to the boat. In addition to having a fine restaurant, The resort is home to a bakery which is noted for the best caramel pecan rolls in Wisconsin! Be sure and bring some aboard for enjoyment between fishing action.
Available Dates:
Best time to book a charter? Charters run from late May until early October. King salmon and steelhead trout start arriving in northern Door County in May and stay around into October most years. Mid-June to late August is prime time for kings and rainbows, but there is still plenty of action into fall months. Spring and fall months are the best times for brown trout. Smallmouth bass can be caught all summer long. But Captain Denny does not permit harvesting of smallmouth bass during the spawning period (May-June); it's catch and release only in order to protect the resource. Take a picture of your trophy and let the big fish live to fight again!
