Caribbean Island Fly Fishing

Belize — Package: 4200998

Package Details and Information:

Our beautiful Lodge has been a favorite resort for fly fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling for over 40 years.  This 14-acre private Caribbean Island is located 30 miles off the coast of Belize on the Turneffe Atoll and is ideally situated near some of the best scuba diving and fishing in the Western Caribbean.

Guests enjoy elegant accommodations, service that is second to none, exquisite Caribbean cuisine and of course, superb scuba diving, fishing and snorkeling.

Our exclusivity, our charm and our subtle hospitalities have created an environment that must be experienced to be truly appreciated.

Come enjoy the pristine waters of the Caribbean and swaying palm trees on your very own white sandy beach, all outside your deluxe lodge room or private cabana.

Whether you are wading or your guide is poling the flats, large schools of bonefish are a common occurrence along the miles of hard coral and soft grass flats on either side of the southern end of Turneffe Atoll.

Due to the limited tide change and the near constant water temperature, the bonefish population remains stable throughout the year. Many flats hold resident bonefish that will tail in the deeper water that is scattered along the inside reef flats.

When Reef fishing you can catch Cubera Snapper, Grouper, Crevalle Jack, King Fish.

Due to the pristine waters and the healthy marine environment, Belize is home to a large variety of game fish.

Whether you are using conventional tackle or bait, locating these prizes is a mere 10-minute ride from our lodge to the reef that encompasses Turneffe Atoll.

Fishing along the reef with your guide in our Dolphin skiffs is an option available to you at no additional cost.

Offshore Fishing you can catch Marlin, Sailfish, Black Fin Tuna, Wahoo, Kingfish, Amberjack, Barracuda.

Location and Fishing Information

Caribbean Island Fly Fishing - The Turneffe Atoll stretches 30 miles to the north and is 10 miles wide.  It encompasses over 200 mangrove islands and countless creeks and streams that provide shelter and food for a wide variety of game fish.
The lodge is the original fishing lodge on Turneffe Atoll and is surrounded by an extraordinary marine eco-system that is home to millions of baitfish, crabs, shrimp and small aquatics that serve as the first link in the undersea food chain.

The pristine environment, the incredible variety of fish to catch, and the easy access from the United States has allowed the lodge to be recognized for more than forty years as one of the top flats fishing destinations in the Caribbean.
The peaceful country of Belize is a sovereign democratic state of Central America. It enjoys a rich and diverse cultural heritage that has enabled it to become a stable democratic society. No one is sure where the name "Belize" originated or what it means. The country was called Belize long before the British took over and renamed it British Honduras.

Our typical day is 8 hours of fishing. The guides have the opportunity to vary those hours depending on weather and pre-breakfast or post-dinner tarpon fishing.

Your guides will be at the dock at 8:00 am and ready to leave for fishing at 8:30 am. He will load your gear in the boat along with plenty of cool water, any special drinks you've ordered and a delicious lunch if you are planning to stay out all day. We serve lunches every day in our dining room and many of our guests enjoy coming in for lunch and getting out of the sun for an hour or so. Many of the most productive fishing areas are not far from the lodge so you won't lose fishing time traveling back and forth for lunch.

"Barry was excellent, his manner, knowledge and instruction made you feel immediately at ease and confident that you would catch fish. The equipment supplied was of an excellent standard, and his wife's home made muffins were just as good. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would not hesitate to book Barry for sessions should we be in the area anytime in the future."
