Fishing Florida Keys

Florida (FL) — Package: 200677

Package Details and Information:

Speacialzing in fly and light takle fishing for large fish in shallow water.  Fish for tarpon, permit, bonefish, barracudas and sharks in the crystal clear waters of the Florida Keys.

We fish from an 18 foot Action Craft flats skiff, powered by a 115 Yamaha.  It is a very dry comfortable and stable boat, with lots of dry storage.

As your guide I pole the boat, as we search for fish in the shallow water. When we spot the fish, you cast.  Sound like fun?  It is!

Top quality rods, reels, tackle, etc... are provided.  I like to start the day with the rod racks full and already set up for the day.  Please feel free to bring your gear if you prefer.  Your fishing license is also included.  Bring camera, sunscreen, white soled shoes, polorized lenses, food and drinks.

TARPON
The lower Keys is famous for its tarpon migration.  Beginning mid Febuary till June, giant tarpon travel though the keys by the thousands.  During the peak of the season it is common to see and cast to hundreds of the fish a day.  Juvenile tarpon are available year round when conditions are right.

PERMIT
Permit are known as one of the most challenging fish to catch with a fly.  How ever they will eat a live crab with reckless abandon.  When hooked they make long powerfull runs.

BONEFISH
The florida Keys is home to some of the largest bonefish in the world.  They average about 4 to 8 lbs and reach wieghts of around 15 lbs.  These fish will sizzle a hundred yards or more of line on there first run.

BARRACUDA
In the winter these preditors move on to the shallow flats in seach of warmth and food.  These fish are big powerfull and plentifull.  Flies and tubelures skittered across the surface can produce lightning fast explosive strikes.  These fish can outjump a tarpon and out swim a bonefish.

SHARKS
Sharks are the apex preditor of the flats.  These fish range from 2 1/2 feet to 8 feet.  when hooked they will make a blistering run for deeper water.  Blacktips will jump occasionally.

Location and Fishing Information

Fishing Florida Keys - I operate primarily from Little Torch Key, but occasionaly trailer the boat to fish other areas.  Little Torch Key is in the lower keys located between Key West and Marathon.  Far enough away from each town to fish uncrowded flats.  The Great White Heron Wildlife Refuge includes 300 square miles of endless flats, well proteted bays, deep channels and numerous uninhabited mangrove islands. Lots of fish and other wildlife.  Bring your camera!

Accommodation:

There are several nice places to stay in the area.  Most are right on the water.  I can meet you at thier dock in the morning with the boat.

Available Dates:

Please submit an inquirey to check on available days and best time to fish for your target species.
