Wilderness Fishing Labrador Canada

Canada, Labrador — Package: 300719

Package Details and Information:

Anglers have only to step in front of the lodge and cast to catch brook trout averaging two to four pounds, but seasoned sportfishing guides are there to take you further afield in comfortable Gander River boats for more lively action at the lake's inlet and outlet. Shallow, weedy areas of the watershed contain Northern pike of up to 20 pounds and provide a challenge for fly fishers who choose to take them on light tackle. Eagle Lake offers a combination of comfort, remoteness, and great fishing opportunities that will appeal to young and old alike.

Location and Fishing Information

Wilderness Fishing Labrador Canada - Our lodge on Awesome Lake first opened in 1991, and offers "fly fishing only" for giant brook trout on Awesome Lake and the connecting English River system. Not only is this one of the most picturesque areas of Labrador, but you will be fly fishing in one of its most unique rivers, the English River, which contains no other species except Eastern brook trout. Its cold, crystal-clear waters are home to giant brook trout which provide a battle equal to any freshwater game fish.

Our Sportfishing Lodge on Eagle Lake, Canada: Labrador, located in the northeast corner of Canada, is a wilderness lovers fly fishing dream come true. Hundreds of miles of undisturbed sportfishing lakes and rivers exist here, and extremely limited access translates into some of the most pristine surroundings to be found anywhere in the world.

Freshwater resources abound in Labrador. Secluded and inaccessible interior lakes are home to such species as Northern pike, land-locked salmon (known as ouananiche), whitefish, lake trout, Arctic char, and huge Eastern brook trout. Several rivers entering the Atlantic Ocean host annual migrations of Atlantic salmon which number in the thousands, and one of the most famous salmon fishing is the Eagle River.

Accommodation:

Recent renovations to the Eagle Lake fishing lodge include accommodations for 12 guests in six modern bedrooms equipped with private shower, toilet and sink - as well as comfortable beds. Entry through a "mud room" allows anglers to leave waders, vests, and equipment in a secure area where wet clothes can dry out and gear is safely stored. The fully equipped and staffed kitchen is also new, containing all modern conveniences and appliances for preparation of tasty meals. The two-story, double "A" frame main building has a common area for dining and socializing on the main floor, with a quiet area upstairs where one can read, relax with an after-dinner drink, or tie flies on the lodge's fly tying bench in preparation for the next day's adventure.

Available Dates:

The angling has always been successful for us throughout the summer months. A larger volume of fish are caught earlier in the year, while trophy hunters' should consider later in the season when larger fish are taken as spawning time approaches.

"Just wanted to say thanks again for the great Striper trip my son Chris and I had with you guys. In the middle of winter and 45 degrees I would not of imagined catching a dozen stripers between 7 and 10lbs. Chris and I talked later and agreed that without Bill, we would have caught zero fish. See you next time."
